Licensing

Everyone wanting to fish the rivers of the Taupo conservancy must purchase and carry a license. Serious penalties apply for unlicensed fishing, including confiscation of equipment and prosecution. It pays to abide by the rules and license fees contribute to maintaining the fishery.

Licenses can be short term or for a season, for individuals or a family, and can be purchased online from the Department of Conservation website.
