Accommodation
The Lodge house accommodation consists of living room, dining room, library, kitchen, laundry, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Match lined ceilings in native Rimu timber are a feature throughout. The house features art works by several New Zealand artists.
The master suite is furnished with double bed, double wardrobe and writing desk. It opens to a full ensuite marble bathroom, including bath and cascade shower. All bed linen is supplied and is tailored percale cotton. The bed has a goose down duvet, and an electric blanket is provided during the winter months.
The second bedroom also provides a double bed, wardrobe, reading chair and antique scotch dresser. The bed linen is also percale cotton with a goose down duvet, and is warmed in winter with an electric blanket.
The third bedroom in the house has 2 single beds, a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The beds are dressed as above and have electric blankets during winter.
A second bathroom with cascade shower serves the second and third bedrooms.
In addition to the large open fire in the living room, all rooms in the house are heated by central heating during the winter. During the warmer summer months, the system circulates cooler air through the house.
Kitchen and laundry
The Lodge house has a fully equipped kitchen, including a pantry regularly stocked with dry provisions. On your arrival additional items are supplied for your first breakfast and a complimentary bottle of wine adds to your welcome.
A laundry with washing machine and drier is available if you need to wash or dry clothes during your stay. For the summer months there is an extendable washing line outside, on which to dry clothes.
Library
The Lodge house library is available for the enjoyment of all guests. It is built on the original collection of
Dr Ron Kennedy, who owned the house for many years and was the local medical practitioner from the 1950's into the 1980's.
There are a few short rules about the library, which we hope you’ll follow. These are displayed in the library and are summarised in our
terms of business. You are sure to find something interesting to read during your stay.
There is free wi-fi in the Lodge house, the code for which is provided to guests.
The library opens to a deck overlooking the closest reach of the river, ideal for that early evening glass of wine.
